It’s that time of year again when everyone is making their New Years Resolutions; to get healthy, to work out more, to make more money, you’ve heard them all. Typically most people don’t make it past January with their New Years Resolutions, but I wanted to share mine with you all.
This year, my first goal is to be more active with my blog. My beloved grandpa died in October and I took a major hiatus from posting both here and on Instagram. I realized that I missed sharing different ideas and the happening of what was going on around my house! Luckily, I have quite a lot of ideas for posts that have happened since my last post that should make for some good posts.
My second goal is to become more minimalistic. I realized recently that J and I have a TON of stuff. Mostly clothes and random house decorations, but a ton of other random stuff as well. No kidding, we have three dressers and two closets full of clothes between the two of us… I have laid out a detailed timeline of how I want to downsize our things and organize what we do have better. I’m following what I call, the Emily Gilmore Technique, if it doesn’t bring me joy, it’s gone!
My third goal (and hardest) is to have a no spend year. Those who know me well will laugh, but I am serious! In order to fill up 3 dressers and two closets, some serious shopping occurred over a few years. That combined with rarely getting rid of things led to a serious stuff problem! So here is my plan for my no spend year; I can spend money on gifts, food, toiletries and other consumable items. I am not allowed to spend money on clothes, shoes, purses or house decor. The only time that these rules are flexible are when I am traveling or I need to replace something that has broken beyond repair.
While I realize that New Years Resolutions are highly broken I am taking mine seriously and plan on sticking to them for as long as possible! Tell me in the comments below, what are your New Years Resolutions?
As always don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for the latest and sneak peeks of upcoming posts! Happy 2018 everyone!
